Quality Principles

Ultimate quality lies at the heart of our principles

Quality assurance right from the beginning

Right from the beginning we have been continuously investing in quality assurance. As early as 1921, the owners set up a state-of-the-art laboratory, paving the way for the rest of the German brewing industry in all aspects of quality management. Today as then, a lot of monitoring procedures are in place, from deliveries to filling, ensuring that each and every product that leaves the Bitburger premises reaches the end consumer with traditional premium quality.

Raw materials – Only the best will do

The selection of the raw materials alone requires the utmost diligence. The most important ingredient, the malt, comes under close scrutiny in terms of its regional origin within Germany. We only use two-row summer barley. The malt specifications are scrutinised by means of consistent controls in our own laboratory. The company will not accept deliveries of lower quality and decline offered price reductions in such cases. And last but not least: Bit Malt is more than 90 per cent water. So it's no surprise that the water used in brewing is subject to strict regulations.

Above legal requirements

All raw materials undergo a final round of checks in quality assurance. This is over and above legal requirements and voluntary monitoring carried out by our suppliers. Raw materials that fail to meet our strict quality standards never even make it into the brewing kettle. This thorough, seamless chain of quality checks is part and parcel of the Bitburger Brewing Group philosophy and something that sets us apart from many other companies in the brewing industry.

We regularly invest in research, development and new equipment to ensure that everything that reaches the customer fulfils their every expectation. Profitability is a function of quality, and not about pinching the pennies.
